I'm now a graduated driver

Funny how the days keep speeding by. Monday's exam went quite well and I am super happy to have it out of my way. Now I have a week til the next one. 5 more assignments/exams before reading week, so I can't complain too much I guess.

Today was relatively boring.. I woke up, and went to write my 'g' test, and that has been about it. The only thing is, I got there at 11 (half hour before as per they say), and had to wait til 12:10 to take the damn thing. I couldn't feel my feet by the time it became driving time. I don't know how I passed the test ether. I "cut" a guy off going onto the highway, went to slow in a school zone (wtf?), couldn't parallel park (hit the curb) and when he asked me to do an emergency road side stop I just looked at him with a blank face. Oh well, in the end I think I talked him into giving it to me!

Now I'm a graduated driver. 4 years, 364 days after I got my G1 license, and 1 day before my G2 license expired. YES!

I have to head to foot patrol now though, so I will hopefully do this again some time.

Time is just flying by

So where are we at. It's now Sunday and the last few days have been wonderful. Went on my first date in a while on Thursday night. Had a solid grilled cheese dinner, then went dancing at the Barking Frog. Overall a good night.

The best day of my month though would have to have been yesterday. Charity Ball 2007. The annual Western formal. It was an interesting day and night. Went with Kel (Girl on my right) and did the pedicure/manicure in the morning. I must say, I have never felt more, homosexual than when I had it done. Overall though it was actually a good time, and quite relaxing. I would go again, minus the extreme feeling of being laughed at by society.

Afterwards we did some shopping, hit the LCBO etc. and then it was time to get ready. Overall the night was quite solid. We had a pre-drink at my house in which everyone consumed way to much wine. Watched the Leaf's beat Montreal, then headed to the London Convention Center for the big event.

The night was just to long to even bother explaining. The memories are priceless though so I am quite happy. The highlight was definitely when I got on my knees to apologize for making a rude comment to Kel, and in turn, everyone in view thought I was purposing and began to clap and cheer. So now I'm engaged? Not sure how that works, but had to explain to many people that I wasn't purposing.

After the event it took 45 minutes to get a cab, followed by some Pizza and the quickest pass out I've ever experienced. Great sleep though...

... Now all I have to look forward to today (even though the day is practically done) is studying. I have my first exam of the term tomorrow. Psychology 290. Should be a great time, it's only worth 20%, and only on 2 chapters, so I'm not too worried. After that, we're in the clear for a bit! YAY!

NyQuil induced coma

So here I am, it's 11:30pm and I'm about to pass out. This is day 3 that I have put myself in a NyQuil induced coma in a feeble attempt to get a good nights sleep and get rid of my cold. Yesterday I barely made it to bed, and didn't get out of my cloths, turn off anything or get my contacts out. Tonight I have taken the precautions to have already done all those things. Now all that is left is rolling from my computer to the bed.

Today was just simply a long day. I woke up at 8:30 and was at class by 9:15. Had class til just after 12. Pulled off a quick lunch and finished another chapter in my text. After that I hit the gym with rob for two hours, did two hours of physio studies, and then did foot patrol.

All I've pulled off since getting home is looking at a few things I need to get done, and planning for tomorrow. Oh, and I made the most delicious pork chops EVER. Damn can I cook up a storm when I want to.

Really thats about all that is exciting. I'm quite happy with my decision to go for a 4th year hear at Western. Finishing off with my BMOS:HR will be a good choice in the long run. I'm still very much considering moving to Australia or Europe right after I graduate though. I'm once again looking into how I go about getting my European citizenship since I am 50% Czech. That would be sweet, would also make going over there for a while quite easy.

This weekend is the big Western Charity Ball. It should be a good time. I've slowly convinced a lot of my friends to go, so we have quite the party happening. If I didn't have my exam on Monday I would take it as an opportunity to consume a little too much alcohol, but that exam will be at the front of my mind the whole damn time. Oh well, will still be a blast!

The other big news is that I should be getting my next tattoo very very soon. I was going to go tomorrow, but I have work that needs to be done. Right now it's looking like I will end up going next Thursday or so to get it priced/looked at, and then done on that weekend. SO excited.

Post Monday Blues

No post yesterday. I was trying to get through "Blue Monday" as quick as possible and the thought never crossed my mind. The day did live true to its name and I had a horrible day. Slept in, visited the banks, had a class, had dinner with Kel (only highlight of the day), more banks, half a bottle of NyQuil, and NHL 2K7 on the PS3 until I passed out.

I was overall quite happy when the day was over. In turn, today was "Loony Tuesday". I was in the strangest, happy go lucky mood, but it was a welcome change from being depressed. Had class at 9:30, hit the gym for 2 hours at 12:30, then another 3 hours of class. That is my fabled Women's Studies course, and I must say, it had my most interesting (read: embarrassing) class moment ever. There are only a few guys in the class (4), and me and another sit in the front rows slightly away from everyone in the open. We are discussing transsexuals when the subject suddenly changes...

Teacher: "Now girls, don't you agree that you don't really orgasm through penetration anyways?"

... At this point all of the girls ether roll their eyes or laugh loudly. This was followed by silence and every single one of them looking at Myself and the guy behind me. Can you say AWKWARD? They then debated whether or not we should even have penis' so that we don't' think they are useful and would instead rely on other things. Every time a comment was made, they looked to see our reaction which by this point was just sitting there shrugging. Damn feminists.

Oh well.

The next few days should be enjoyable though. I have a ton of work to get done, but it's all leading up to Saturday. Charity Ball should be amazing. I have my suit ready to go (minus I need to sew a bit on my pants, and get it dry cleaned). Going to look great. A preview of the shirt is above, just need to add the tie and shave. I'm doing the most meterosexual thing ever on Saturday afternoon with Kel and getting a manicure, but it should be a interesting experience. I can't believe I am admitting that.

That about sums up my life.

Listening to the soundtrack of my life

Just another Sunday afternoon. The snow is coming down heavy and London is covered in a blanket of white. More typical of our Canadian winter's than we have had as of late. I'm just spending a peaceful afternoon listening to some music, reading some psychology and getting ready for my next week. I have a lot to do this week, but I'm excited.

The highlight is clearly going to be Saturday. We're all getting pretty then hitting up the Western Charity Ball. A real reason to go all out with a nice pressed suit, tie and the whole sha-bang. I'm quite pumped. Otherwise this week is going to feature the return of Mike to Weldon as the real work load is now in effect. The last two weeks have been enjoyable, but its now a more serious time. First exam is actually just over a week away which is weird since we've only had 2 lectures!

I'm pretty sure I am going to take my resume down to Jack's by Tuesday and get the bouncing job. I'm sad because it means I may be quitting blockbuster, but I think it will be better pay, a few more hours, and well, I still get to go out, periodically see my friends and I think it'll be a fun job. Also gives me a damn good reason to keep going to the gym, so I can carry people out over my head ;)

Otherwise life is boring. I need to make a change I just can't figure out what it is. I need to see the school psychologist I think because I'm worried I'm getting "Winter depression". Things seem different down here after Christmas. Oh well.

The other fun thing we've been doing lately is playing Todd's new PS3. NHL 2K7 is possibly the most fun I have had playing a video game in a long time. I recommend everyone check it out!

Looks like a white Christmas.. one month late

It's now Saturday. Everything is just go, go, go down here in London. This week has been great though, so I won't complain too much! The best night of the week was by far Frog Thursday. Any night that I get to wear a suit and hit up a bar with my friends is an A+ in my books. Met a cool girl that night too, but thats about the extent of the excitement. I got stuck working Friday mid-day and then my roommates were hosting a flip-cup tournament. Team Win, sporting our "Western: Eat, Sleep, Drink 24/7 shirts" took home a weak 4th place, but had a blast doing it.

Afterwards, Rob and myself went downtown to meet up with some neighbors and dance the night away. It was good times, and a good celebration of the last Friday I can probably go out. Once again, the bar Jacks has offered me a job as a bouncer. I'm becoming quite tempted to take the position. I think it would be fun. I just don't want to do it for minimum wage. The other big possibility coming into play is bar tending. I've got a small in, and I MAY be able to pick up a position at one of the downtown bars. I'm getting my smart serve next week because of this possibility.

Otherwise nothing that exciting is going on... just hoping one of these jobs comes through because that would be sweet. Just starting to work my butt off for the rest of the semester. Yay for that or something.

One down, another to go

Well, Carla is gone.. that is quite sad, but soooo far I haven't noticed too much. Give it two or three days and I think we will all miss her tremendously.

Today was a day, typical of any day at Western. Woke up and the whole world was covered with ice. Made it to my tour in time to have them not bother showing up. Had a 3 hour class learning about how to select an impartial jury (very cool actually). And followed it all up with dinner, reading and a nap.

When I got home my roommates were drinking and so were various 1580'ers. I shut myself in my room and read/napped, but decided to join them when they ventured out to Jack's. I mainly wanted wings, so me and Rob had a whole bunch of them. So tasty. Afterwards we all danced for a while, and once again I had some random girls hitting on me. I really don't know what it is. I don't see what they see in my. I'm cocky, and arrogant, and a really nice guy, but I'm not the hottest boy in the bar. It's flattering though and I always make sure they know I appreciate the compliment. It sucks though because I've been sticking with my "be good" resolution and have politely declined everything from every girl. AUGH!

Now it's 1:40am and I'm thinking about life. Almost wish I was high because it would make the thinking a lot easier. I think I may just be depressed. AWESOME! Tomorrow has my two 'hardest' classes, and is also my longest day on campus. They both seem quite interesting, just not liking the fact I have to be awake by 8:45am. Oh well, I will survive.

This is quickly turning into a ramble of sorts. Oh well. I'm looking forward to the rest of this week. Going to make sure I stay on top of my work because then I can have a little fun on Thursday with my Thursday Night Frog Night! It's my favorite weekly event. So good.

January 14th Resolutions...

So I said it would be done... but not on New Years. If I had made any resolutions they would have been broken before the end of my week in Cuba. Now that January 14th has hit, it is time to make my resolutions for the next 50 weeks of the year!
  1. Be Good - This is supposedly very vague, but that is somewhat the point of it. It is my number 1 resolution and I plan to stick to it. I'm not going to give a huge definition but those close to me know what it means.
  2. Don't fall behind - Again, sounds vague, but mainly refers to school. I have an amazing schedule so this shouldn't be hard.
  3. Get in shape - OH! There's the most stereotypical New Years Resolution ever made. Luckily mine isn't lose weight, or get a six pack. I just want to get in a little better shape so I am the happiest boy on earth. Nothing ridiculous, just a little improvement. Mainly just get back into my workout routine.
  4. Avoid becoming intoxicated until the end of April - Whenever exams are done, this resolution expires, and during reading week, it is void, but during the actual school year, a beer or two once in a while is fine, but no getting DRUNK!
  5. Make sure I have a 70%+ Average - again, self explanatory
  6. Get my lobes pierced and my next 2 tattoo's - Again, self explanatory
That's really it. Those are my basic 6 goals for this year. Hold me to them.. I dare you!

Sunday night depression

Well it's Sunday night now. Somehow I missed a few days on this thing, but I blame my busy life. Friday was awesome. I spent a large part of the day cleaning and organizing, but then had to work a good ol' 6-11 shift. I convinced them to let me go a little bit early because my good bud Tyler Steingard was coming down for a visit, and we wanted to hit up a bar!

We got the plan finally set when our next door neighbors showed up and decided that we would join them in a night on the town. So we decided on Taphouse after learning that more people were going and we would in turn be VIP. It really is the only way to go. Anyways, I think we gave Steiny a very good first night club experience. We had a few drinks, some dances and some damn fine wings. Overall I think a great time was had by all. After a walk in the rain for a good distance home, we all passed out by 4am.

We rang in Saturday morning with a good ol' McDonald's breakfast before saying our good byes. A short nap and a shower later, I was back at work. LAME! Anyways, shift ended and it was time to say goodbye to Carla. She's leaving us for a 5 month exchange to England! We hit up Cowboys for some beer and line dancing. Was an awesome time. Danced the night away, didn't even bother drinking and just was a perfect night. Afterwards I got to play acoustic guitar for an hour or so at Diane's which made my life. I need to get an acoustic again because I miss them.

Today has been lax. Hung out with everyone while Carla was slowly getting through the last day... did a little reading... and then just watched Beerfest with Becs. Overall a solid Sunday. Now I'm just trying to get through some reading and tour prep for my day on campus tomorrow.

Ma, something ain't right

This seems to be the theme of my week, and I still cannot explain it at all! Girls are starting to say they can see the resemblance to McSteamy, and I just don't have a clue where they are pulling it out of.

Today was relatively simple. One class in the morning where we discussed YouTube for 3 hours, followed by lunch with Jasmine to catch up on the last 4 months and some good ol' text book buying. I followed that up with a solid 4 hour nap, and then my usual Wednesday foot patrol shift.

Afterwards though I headed for the bars with Rob, Becs and Lindsay. We hit up Joe Cools for nacho's and Keith's first. Thanks so much goes out to Lindsay's mom for covering the bill there, you really didn't need to! The weirdness started there though. A few girls kept pointing at me etc. which furthers my belief that I am on an extended episode of Punk'd. We then headed over to Jim Bob Ray's to see a few of their friends. While they were talking I decided to take a walk across the bar. In that walk, I managed to dance on a table (thanks Manjot), I had a girl grab my ass twice, another girl kept smiling and waving, and two girls kissed me. WHAT THE FUCK!? This is not my usual bar night out in London. I don't understand why this keeps happening. But at the same time, I'm not complaining. Tomorrow is Frog Thursday, I have a streak going. I have the shirt pressed and the suit jacket ready. Should be a very interesting night they way thing have been going. Oh well.

Can she say "Vagina" in Class?

Well it was day number two, and school is in full swing. Had my two 300 level courses this morning & afternoon and they seem like they should be interesting. The only bad part is that they added 3 assignments in about a 12 hour period come March. Oh well. They both look quite good.

The rest of the day was rather slow otherwise. I finished class around 4:30 and made my way home to do 4 loads of laundry. Its nice to have clean clothing again! I had almost run out of boxers/socks/t-shirts.

Tomorrow should be simple, one class in the morning on the Sociology of Mass Communications. Sounds like a great class. Meeting Jaz for lunch and Jamie for coffee and then ending on my usual Wednesday Foot Patrol. Yay. Then it's bar time with the girls next door. Once again seems nice.

McSteamy? Ok?

So today has been a little bit random I would say. Started the day off registering for some classes, then went to my first class of 2007. The teacher was the most energetic person I have ever met. It was awesome.

Afterwards, Chris, Michelle and myself met up for a couple of cold Canadian beers. First ones in a long time. We chatted and shared our vacation stories which was nice. We ended up having a few too many pitchers though, because I went home and fell asleep within minutes. Super tired.

It was Ryan's 21st birthday though which meant I had to wake up, clean up and head out to the bar... this is where my night gets weird. I'm pretty sure I was just on the show Punk'd because once at the bar, ever girl seemed to be flirting with me. I wasn't drunk so that was not the explanation. A group of girls snuck up to my friend Matt and asked if I was single; then hit on me for a couple hours. They were calling me "McSteamy". Several other girls just threw themselves, many were pointing and talking and blushing when I said hi. I had one who kept bumping into me until I said hi, then tried to kiss me and offered me a ride home.

Overall it was just unusual. Especially for in London... girls here are too "good" for everyone. Oh well, made me feel great in the end. Especially since they weren't fugly, they were actually good looking! Like I said, made my day.

On the way out though another odd occurrence took place. This like 50 year old man had shook my hand 10 minutes prior, and as I was getting ready to leave, he approached me again. He paid me $20 to stand at the door and bounce for the last 15 minutes as people left. No real reason was ever given. It seemed that he didn't want shit to happen, then it was because he wanted to give one of the bouncers $100, then he didn't want to get beaten up. He kept switching his story! It was messed, but on the plus side, I got $20 which covered my drinks, and cab ride home, all for standing around for 15 minutes.

Overall it was just an awesome first day back. I have two 300 level courses tomorrow which I am quite excited for. They should be entertaining, and hopefully I can pull good marks in them again. I decided I want to do a 4th year and graduate with a 4 year degree... and I still think I have a shot at Ivey, so I'm going to make the push. Go me. Giving up drinking in 6 days......

Post Cuba, Pre School

Ola! So I have now been home from Cuba for a day, and it is actually quite sad. The trip was probably one of the best weeks of my life and it was terrible to have to leave. The nice part is, I'm home and all the roommates and neighbors are too. I don't know why I am awake right now, turns out my course registration doesn't start until 8:30am. Oh well.

With regards to Cuba though, best trip ever. We arrived and the weather was always hot hot hot. It lead to me ending with a great tan which makes me happy. I don't think I will ever be able to recount all the events that happened there, but here is a list of highlights...
  • Skinny dipping on new years with Evan, Mark and 6 chicks, until their parents showed up and put an end to it. Oh, and Evan shaking the Dad's hand balls naked.
  • Drinking so many Pina Colada's within 2 hours of arrival that I puked and could drink no more rum all week
  • Touring the countryside on Moped's with my dad
  • Enjoying the jacuzzi ;)
  • Discovering a new found love of Shrimp
  • Being a couple km's into the ocean on a paddleboat when a huge storm decides to start
  • Getting bottle service with Champagne thanks to a 3 peso tip at the bar... best idea ever.
  • Watching George's reacation when we gave him my dad's Blue Jay's jersey because he loved it so much.
  • Spending time meeting new people and making new friends.
  • Just hanging out with a large group of Canadian kids who wanted to party and have a great time... Thanks Mike, Ralph, Katie, Sarah, Dana, Keiko, Terry, Brenda, Michelle, Sarah, Matt, Alex, Phil, Gitane, Neda, and anyone else whose name I couldn't spell or who I forgot.
Oh, and on that last note... FUCK THE HABS!... I'm so sick of hearing people cheer for them. ;)

Bonne Annee 2007

Going to keep this short.. just wanted to get the first post in for the new year! Down here in Cuba drinking all day and sleeping til noon. Having a blast. Been more random drinking and nudity than I could ever have imagined in London.

Met a group of about 15 people from Ontario so we have been partying hard. Has lead to many interesting adventures and situations. Pictures up once I get back. Happy New Year!
